Armory come to us from Townsend MA which to be quite honest makes me proud as this is basically a local band for me. Armory was formed in 2001 and in 2004 recorded the first rendition of "The Dawn Of Enlightenment" demo, before coming back in 2007, and deciding to take things to the next level by re-recording the entire album professionally with local producer/engineer Peter Rutcho. Peter has takin these songs, and has made them sound as good as any true Metal band you'd hear from over in Europe with a fantastic production. Its amazing to compare the original demo of 2004, to this newly re-recorded 2007 version! You will definately hear many of the bands musical influences on this album but Armory are able to also bring a fresh sound all of there own to the table as well. Lyrically the band sings about the typical true/power metal stuff like Dragons, Wizards, Steel, Kings, Warriors, and so on. Armory isnt trying to reinvent the wheel but rather bring you a solid Metal album that will have you fist pumping, and banging your head in typical 80s metal fashion. There are 12 tracks to be found here starting with an intro, and ending with Dr Wiley a very cool but funny ode to the Megaman character (Hail Nintendo). The music is tight, the vocals are powerful, and as stated already the production is excellent. You'll also be treated to a very good cover of Iron Maiden's "Flight Of Icarus".
If you are looking for something new, and innovative from your metal music than this band definately isnt for you. However if you are looking for a straight to the point Metal release filled with influences from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Hammerfall, Edguy, Dragonforce, and more than you should definately check out Armory.
