When I was searching around on myspace for new bands, I found one that really caught my attention. This band was fronted with clean female vocals that didn’t bore me after one song (i.e.: Echoes of Eternity) but instead contained vocal runs worthy of another listen. The band is both symphonic and progressive, keeping things tight throughout the album. I also tend to like the drum loops used from time to time during the coarse of the disc. The only thing they truly lack is originality, cool riffs are scattered throughout and held together by slower arrangements, yet nothing grabs me as out of the ordinary.
Their first full length includes influences (beyond the obvious Nightwish-esqe bands) such as Dragonforce and Dream Theater. Resolutio starts off with some very cool spoken word, reminiscent of Geoff Tate as well as hints of this spread throughout the disc. My favorite song (indeed most that are not interludes are long) is “Theater of Pain” as the vocals on this stand above all the rest. There are many vocal harmonies present (including choir arrangements) along scarce growls in the background. The vocals overall are mixed a bit high for the disc, but seeing as that is one of the features of this group, it’s understandable. Production on this is outstanding especially the string arrangements which are flawless. I have to say each listen gives me new perspective on Resolutio.
