Steel Panther are back, and this time they have brought their balls with them! Following in the same tradition as "Feel The Steel" the band brings you another dose of wild, and outrageous 80's inspired METAL! Balls Out is quite varied, and brings a wide range of hard rocking tunes, and ballads. The album opens up with "Into The Future"
an obvious spoof on Motely Crue, and presented by Comedian Dane Cook. Once you realize you're in the year 6969 the band kicks right in with their most uptempo song to date "Supersonic Sex Machine" a great way to get your blood pumping and fists thrusting from the get go. Next up comes one of my personal favs in "Just Like Tiger Woods", which has that great heavy mid tempo groove in the realm of Ratts "Lay It Down". Following these are the USA and UK singles "17 Girls In A Row", and "If You Really Really Love Me". We then get treated to some great songs such as "It Wont Suck Itself" (featuring Chad Kroeger from Nickelback on guest vocals, and Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt), "Tomorrow Night" which has a great heavy opening guitar riff, and of course another sing along chorus (I'm going to a party...Tomorrow Night, Tomorrow Night... but tonight I'm gonna jerk off), and the great power ballad "Why Can't You Trust Me" which follows in the same footsteps as "Community Property". The album continues with one hilarious rocking highlight after another. "Gold Digging Whore" another favorite will have you spelling it in classic P-U-S-S-Y fashion, and theres even a piano song "Weenie Ride" that would make "Beth" jealous!
I was a little concerned that the band wouldn't be able to follow up after an album like "Feel The Steel" but all worries were laid to rest QUICK, and as stated at the beginning of this review its very versatile, and has a little bit of everything. For those of you that have heard the live clips floating around of the song "Critter" you will absolutely love the studio version. There is also some lyric nuggets which I won't spoil that take you back to the "Feel The Steel" album, and they even reference Charlie Sheen WINNING! The album was once again produced by Jay Ruston who is absolutely brilliant in bringing out the bands best dynamics, and sound. The mix is heavy, thick, crisp, punchy, thunderous, and most importantly bombastic.
In closing Steel Panther are a band that have a clear vision of what they are about, and have no problems making vaginas (and perhaps even hairy asses) across "Megaspace" soiled with METAL! So what are you waiting for....its BALLS OUT for everyone!
