I think every year there is one band who some how find their way to the top of my list that no one would ever know. This year goes to a band hailing from France, Eternal Flight. And I must say if you’ve never heard them before, you are missing out. Under the Sign of Will is the bands latest offering of blistering power metal. This album at times is also very dark at times in verse with catchy choruses that will have you singing along. The music is filled with expected power metal riffs. The band also lays down a groove for the better part of the album, giving the opportunity for Gerard to generate powerful melodies. His voice has great range and often uses seamless harmonies to make an overall enjoyable album.
One of my favorite songs “Deaf. Dumb. Blind.” Has a Dream Theater like sound to the music. “Edge of Fire” and the title track both come off as fast and heavy tracks. “Friends” is a slow song and the European edition contains a remix of the same track. All instruments are heard clear and are well mixed. My copy is a digipack with the autographs from each member. Under the Sign of Will ranks #5 on my 2007 list of new releases.
