Lizzy Borden is back once again, and this time you have an "Appointment With Death"! My first experience with Lizzy Borden was back in the Headbangers Ball days when I heard, and saw the video for "Me Against The World". I was instantly hooked by Lizzy's vocals, and melodies, and immediately tracked down the back catalog, and have since followed his career. After all these years Lizzy hasnt lost a step in either the vocal department, or backing band department. "Appointment With Death" offers 12 tracks of classic Lizzy Borden style Metal. All the typical style of songs can be found on here. The uptempo rocker opening of "Abnormal" to the mid paced Metal anthem of "Tomorrow Never Comes". Then theres "Under Your Skin" which has sort of a Hard Rock "pop" vibe ala Alice Coopers song "Poison". Not something I expect to hear from Mr Borden, but its actually not too bad after a few listens. Overall ths is a solid release with the classic Lizzy Borden signature sound that comes with great riffs and Lizzy's killer melodies, and backing vocals. The production is clean, crisp, and tight with plenty of bottom end. There are a couple of mediocre tunes but for the most part this is a very solid release.

As with all his releases you will hear several classic Metal anthems, and lush melodies, and vocals. I for one am glad to see Lizzy staying in the game, and continuing to supply us with releases. His voice has stood the test of time, and sounds just as good now as it did back in the 80s! Oh there is also a very cool acoustic bonus track of the song "Tomorrow Never Comes" which ends this album. Its a great contrast to the heavier version, and is a great closer to a well balanced release. Bottom line, if you are a fan of Lizzy's past work you well quite enjoy "Appointment With Death". If you have never heard Lizzy, and want a Metal album thats solid, and packs a punch than this ones for you as well.
