Myrath (which means Legacy) plays melodic metal that one could compare to the likes of Symphony X (no surprise they played Symphony X cover songs for 2 years) mixed with Oriental influences. One listen to the vocals and you'll swear you're listening to Sir Russell Allen himself! Myrath aren't exactly clones though as there is plenty of Myrath's own style found throughout making this a great release for the Power/Prog Metal genre.
"Hope" starts out with a beautiful intro that really shows the bands love for Western influences (the band hails from Tunisia, Africa) before kicking right in with the crushing riffage of the 2nd song "Confession"! After that the CD does not stop for the remaining 6 songs that follow! Found throughout the disc are monstrous riffs, soaring melodies, Asian influences, and brilliant backing vocals.
This is all topped off with Kevin Codfert (Adagio keyboardist) handling the production, and sound engineer duties. The production on "Hope" is absolutely crystal clear, ballsy, crisp, and punchy!
Its no surprise that Myrath is raising eyebrows with its release of "Hope". The band has the potential to explode wide open in the Power/Prog Metal genre, and I believe its only a matter of time before that happens! I am really looking forward to what the band offers us in the future. Do yourself a favor, if you love bands like Symphony X than make sure you check Myrath out! 9/10!
