Six Minute Century come to us from Texas, and play Melodic Metal with some progressive touches. Right off the bat for a debut album by these newcomers I was pleasantly surprised by the recording and mixing which was handled by Gregg Gill (Z-Lot-Z), and Don LaFon (the bands guitarist). While the production is not the greatest it is very good, and solid. Time Capsules comes packed with 10 songs (one is a three minute guitar piece), that are filled with well crafted musicianship. Singer Chuck Williams has very good range, and will please fans who like the high soaring melodic vocals like Geoff Tate, Midnight, and so on. I really liked the keyboards sprinkled throughout this disc which are also handled by Don LaFon the guitarist. Speakin of Don he has a knack for supplying great groovy riffs that are paired with some really cool drumming courtesy of Darren Davis. Favorites tracks are "The Perfect Picture" which really shows the range of Chuck's voice, and "Heavens Gate" which has a monstrous opening riff and infectious groove complete with doublebass drumming!
Overall I found this release to be very catchy, and worthy of multiple spins. Another solid debut from a band that I hope I get to hear more from in the future.
